Hello Blogging World!

12:02 AM

I love to read and I love to write. And since I love to talk about reading and writing, I figured why not start a blog? Will anyone read it? Maybe. Will anyone like it? Maybe. Either way, here I go.

I've been reading books for as long as I can remember.

“Book collecting is an obsession, an occupation, a disease, an addiction, a fascination, an absurdity, a fate. It is not a hobby. Those who do it must do it. Those who do not do it, think of it as a cousin of stamp collecting, a sister of the trophy cabinet, bastard of a sound bank account and a weak mind.”

Oh, and I also am a bit obsessive about quotes. Just a bit.

I started writing way back when...I don't know when that was really. When Harriet the Spy came out....Okay I just googled it and it was in 1996. Hells bells, that was a long time ago. Mm, I was nine. Now, I don't remember anything about that movie other than the fact that Harriet wrote in her journal. All. The. Time. About everything and anything. So that's what I started to do. I did it until I wrote something about my sister in there and well, it wasn't nice. I don't remember what it was but I was nine so how bad could it have been really? She tattled on me. I got in trouble. And there went my writing.
    For awhile anyhow.
Then I started writing fan fiction. About boy bands. Oh yes, I did. It was really just a hobby and then when that died out, I didn't write much else.
I started my college career out as a Nursing major. It would have paid well and I could have gotten a job anywhere. I would have liked it. Biggest problem? I suck at science. I suck so badly that I failed anatomy three times. Second biggest problem? When I should have been studying, I spent my time making machinima. What is that, you say? Well, that deserves its own blog post so if you really want to know--for now--google it. But basically it's visual storytelling. I made movies with the Sims 2. It's not writing but like I said, it's storytelling.
Well I finally changed my major to Photography and Graphic Design and finally managed to get my degree this summer. I'm still trying to find a "real" job.
Biggest bonus? I have enough free time to write the novel I've always wanted to. So that's what I've been doing. Non stop. I think about it at work, when I'm driving...I'm even thinking about it when people are having conversations with me. Sometimes. I feel kinda bad about that.
One day I will have an entire wall of shelves dedicated to books I love and hopefully my own will sit among them.
